Expósito made his debut for FC Barcelona in a friendly against Portuguese club FC Porto which was organised to unveil Porto's new stadium Estádio do Dragão, on November 16, 2003.[1] This game also featured Lionel Messi, in which this was also his first, unofficial debut for the club.[2] Exposito would never go on to play a full competitive match for the Spanish giants, however featured in a second friendly match a year later against French club Olympique de Marseille in 2004.
After leaving Barcelona later that year, Exposito played briefly for Atletico Madrid, however moved around different clubs in the Spanish lower leagues, before arriving at Auckland City FC in 2011. After helping the club qualify for the 2011 FIFA Club World Cup by winning the 2010–11 OFC Champions League with a convincing 6-1 aggregate victory over Vanuatu club Amicale FC, in which he scored a goal in each leg,[3][4] he opened his goalscoring tally for the 2011–12 ASB Premiership season with a brace against Waikato FC in the opening round.[5]
